Comment

Second wine from the Château d'Issan (3rd Grand Cru Classé), produced from the youngest vines. "Regum Mensis Aris que deorum": "For the Table of Kings and the altar of the gods", such is the motto of the castle of Issan. Indeed, this wine was served at the marriage of Aliénor d'Aquitaine and Henri Plantagenêt in 1152. He is also found at the Court of the Emperor of Austria François-Joseph, in Vienna, a few centuries later. Since 1945, the estate, with its splendid medieval style castle, has been in the hands of the Cruse family, which managed it with passion. Under the direction of Lionel Cruse, the castle is restored, the installations modernized and the vineyard replanted. Since 1998, thanks to the investments undertaken by his son Emmanuel Cruse in the vineyard and the cellars, the wines of Issan reflect more than ever the authenticity of the terroir of Margaux. In 2012, the Lorenzetti family became 50 %associated.

Tasting

The 2015 vintage of the Issan coat of arms presents a dark garnet dress with mauve reflections. Its bouquet is precise and radiant, flavored with black cherry and blueberry scents, a touch of graphite mine in the background. The mouth is semi-corsetic with a mineral frame on the attack. Harmonious in the mouth, with a silky texture so disarming, do not leave its status of second wine prevent you from noting its structure to the finish. This Issan coat of arms is a great achievement.
