Comment

The Château Baret finds its origins in the 4th century. The property located in the Pessac-Léognan appellation has belonged for several generations to the Lords of Baret, a family of merchants and shipowners. Ballande acquired the estate in 1867. Following a fire at the beginning of the 20th century, work was carried out to expand the Chartreuse, supplemented by major restructuring both in the vineyard and in the cellar. One of the rare intramural vineyards, a vestige of the first Bordeaux vineyards from the Gallo-Roman era, it extends over an area of 25.80 hectares to the east of Bordeaux. Aged 25 years on average, the vines are planted on Garonne gravel and clay-limestone subsoils, guaranteeing ideal drainage and deep rooting.

Tasting

A dark and dense color. A fairly voluminous and elegant attack on black cherry. Mid-palate marked by the finesse of the tannins and a light toasted woodiness. Fairly long finish on candied morello cherry.
