Comment

Château Batailley, 5th Grand Cru classified in 1855, is one of the jewels of the Castéja family and the prestigious Borie-Manoux trading house. The name of this property comes from the word battle which took place in 1453 on the vines and the castle during the Hundred Years War. During this war marking the end of the British reign in Aquitaine, the French reconquered Château Latour who was occupied by the English. In the 18th century, vines were planted on these rich history lands. The castle park was drawn in the 19th century by Barillet-Deschamps, landscaper of Napoleon III.
