Famille Mau at Léognan (33850)
Château Brown, formerly Château Barrière, owes its name to a wealthy wine merchant of Scottish origin: John Lewis Brown. In 1884, Château Brown won its first gold medal at the Universal Exhibition in Amsterdam. Little by little, the Château lost its splendor as several families succeeded one another at its head. In 1994 Bernard Barthe (businessman in the cereal industry) became the owner of the castle which underwent a revival and significant investments in both the vines and the winery, then was sold in 2004 to the Mau and Dirkzwager families. Jean Christophe Mau propelled Château Brown into the big leagues in the 2000s, attracting critics from the international press.
This Château Brown will surprise you with its intense bouquet, as well as notes of spices, forest fruits and fresh fruits. It will go wonderfully with your red meats and soft cheeses.
