Comment

The Carbonnieux castle is one of the oldest in Bordeaux. You have to go back to 1234 to find the trace of Ramon Carbonnieux which would have left its name to this area founded in the 13th century by the Benedictines of the Abbey of Sainte-Croix. He passed to the hands of different families before Marc Perrin bought him in 1956 after his first ranking as Grand Cru de Graves in 1953, confirmed in 1959 during the official ranking of the Grands Crus de Graves. Since then, in small touches, this vast property of 170 hectares of land, including 92 hectares of vines, has continued to evolve with growing quality year after year. These are the Granks, Eric and Philibert Perrin, who today direct the carbonnieux domain whose castle turrets constitute the culmination of the town of Léognan.

Tasting

At the same time modern and traditional, the vinification of red wines is conducted with a slow and soft extraction so as to preserve their roundness and the mineral typicity of their terroir. The tannins are balanced and silky in harmony with red fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry, cherry ...) revealing grilled notes conferred by breeding in high quality French oak barrels. Only the best tasty lots will go into the final composition of the classified Red Château Carbonnieux Rouge.
