Comment

In addition to its medieval past, Château La Tour Carnet has remarkable architecture, with its tower dating from 1120, its moat and its drawbridge, making it one of the only Bordeaux estates still fortified. Since its acquisition by Bernard Magrez in 1999, the estate has undertaken a major renovation of both the château and the cellars, while developing sustainable winemaking practices to preserve the environment. The estate today covers more than 300 hectares, including a vast experimental plot where nearly 75 different grape varieties are planted in order to study the impact of climate change and plan future vintages. Today, La Tour Carnet welcomes visitors for guided tours, tastings and even stays in two historic suites, Montaigne and La Boétie, offering a complete and immersive wine tourism experience.

Tasting

The 2021 vintage of Château La Tour Carnet reveals a dark ruby color with purple reflections and an intense nose where blackberry and candied cherry mingle, enhanced by sweet spicy notes and a hint of pepper. On the palate, the substance is generous but balanced thanks to a lively acidity; the tannins are ripe and silky, supporting flavors of red and black fruits with a subtle touch of cocoa. The finish, long and slightly saline, reveals nuances of licorice and citrus, giving the wine harmonious aging potential for the next decade.
