Comment

In 1990, Philibert Perrin acquired, near Château Carbonnieux, part of the land which belonged in the 18th century to Charles de Secondat, Baron de Montesquieu, famous writer, philosopher and winemaker. He undertook a deforestation program and found an old abandoned wash house: the Menaut fountain, it is this which is at the origin of the name of Château Lafont Menaut. In Martillac, 15km from Bordeaux, in the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, Philibert Perrin has replanted over the years 15 ha with red grape varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot) and 3.5 ha with white grape varieties (Sauvignon) in order to bring new life to this ancestral vineyard that has fallen into disuse. The cultivation at Château Lafont Menaut is sustainable and the vines used to produce the red wine are around 15 years old.

Tasting

Clothed in a brilliant dark garnet color, this elegant wine is a little discreet in its aromatic evocations: the wood still dominates the fruit. But on the palate, it presents a round and well-balanced substance, with lovely tannins and a finish full of freshness.
