Famille Bethmann at Léognan (33850)
At the heart of a large area made up of forest, meadows and vines, Château Olivier emerges from its woods as in a clearing. The beautiful architecture, its bodies of water and the quality of the additional buildings, make it an exceptional site surrounded by nature, only eleven kilometers from Bordeaux. Olivier is a very old lordship, which we find in the High Middle Ages. The black prince, it is said, liked to come to hunt, as the surrounding forests were rich in game. In 1867 Alexandre de Bethmann was elected mayor of Bordeaux then his family became the owner of the castle still led today by his descendants. In recent years, the vineyard has been the subject of considerable work and investments. Château Olivier wine was classified in 1953, both in red and white.
Great freshness, this 2014 will be a fairly young drink. We will thus fully appreciate the charm of its fruity bouquet (raspberry, blackcurrant) supported by a delicate woody woody and vanilla. The round attack and its very ripe, already melted, a little firmer tannins in the final, also encourage next consumption. The color is deep. The nose is fruity on notes of candied cherries with some wooded aromatic returns. The attack is flexible, the middle of a fleshy, the long and tannic finish. The tannins are round and walls.
