Comment

At the heart of a vast estate made up of forest, meadows and vineyards, Château Olivier emerges from its woods as if in a clearing. The beautiful architecture, its bodies of water and the quality of the annexed buildings make it an exceptional site surrounded by nature, just eleven kilometers from Bordeaux. Olivier is a very old lordship, traces of which can be found in the early Middle Ages. The Black Prince, it is said, liked to come there to hunt, as the surrounding forests were so rich in game. In 1867 Alexandre de Bethmann was elected Mayor of Bordeaux and then his family became the owner of the Château which is still managed today by his descendants. In recent years, the vineyard has been the subject of considerable work and investment. Château Olivier wine was classified in 1953, both in red and white.

Tasting

Great freshness, this 2014 should be drunk quite young. We will thus fully appreciate the charm of its fruity bouquet (raspberry, blackcurrant) supported by a delicate toasted and vanilla woodiness. The round attack and its very ripe tannins, already melted, a little firmer on the finish, also encourage consumption in the near future. The color is deep. The nose is fruity with notes of candied cherries with some woody aromatic notes. The attack is supple, the middle fleshy, the finish long and tannic. The tannins are round and ripe.
