Comment

Cru La Maqueline extends over 36 ha of vines south of the town of Margaux, on the banks of the Gironde estuary. If the raw name is singular and rare for use, it designates an individual production unit in the same way as a castle or an area. Philippe and Catherine Castel, owners since 2006, wished to maintain the name Cru La Maqueline, exploited since 1892. Hosted by the other passion of the owners: the breeding of reining horses, the property immerses us in a "western" universe, outside the traditional Bordeaux codes. The wine affirms the singularity of the property, like the wines of the new world, with a strong dominant of Merlot.

Tasting

With a very strong dominant of Merlot, vintage La Maqueline presents a strawberry, modern and gourmet profile like the wines of the new world. Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot complete the assembly and offer finesse and aromatic complexity. It is the expression of mature and jammed black fruits that dominate. The aromatic palette is supplemented by melted notes of grilled breads and mocha. On the palate the silky and creamy characters are privileged for a powerful and balanced set.
