Comment

Cru la Maqueline extends over 36 ha of vines to the south of the town of Margaux, on the banks of the Gironde estuary. If the name Cru is unique and rare in use, it designates an individual production unit in the same way as a castle or an estate. Philippe and Catherine Castel, owners since 2006, wanted to maintain the name Cru la Maqueline, operated since 1892. Driven by the owners' other passion: breeding reining horses, the property immerses us in a "Western" universe, outside the traditional Bordeaux codes. The wine affirms the singularity of the property, in the style of New World wines, with a strong dominance of Merlot.

Tasting

With a very strong dominance of Merlot, Cru la Maqueline presents a strawberry profile, modern and gourmet in the style of New World wines. Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot complete the blend and offer finesse and aromatic complexity. It is the expression of ripe and jammy black fruits that dominates. The aromatic palette is completed by melted notes of toasted bread and Mocha. On the palate, the silky and smooth characters are favored for a powerful and balanced whole.
