Comment

Initiated in the 1950s by René Poitevin, alongside the bakery and other agricultural activities, this small family property of 2 hectares in AOC Médoc developed gradually. Like his father, Georges took over the operation and cultivated the vines with passion, then entrusted his harvest to the local cooperative cellar. Helped by his wife Natacha, his small team of involved winegrowers, and his oenologist Antoine Medeville, he strives to gain notoriety at the national and international level thanks to monitoring, regularity in his work and impeccable quality. Faithful to the style of Médoc wines, Lamothe Pontac is aged in oak barrels, but without the use of new wood so that the aromas of the grapes prevail.

Tasting

Tender and easy-drinking, this relatively low-tannin wine with a fairly “feminine” style, exudes notes of small red fruits and is best enjoyed young. The Lamothe Pontac vintage is a fruity, very aromatic and fresh Médoc wine. It will be the perfect companion for a duck breast, or a “seven-hour lamb”, but its less tannic character will allow it to be enjoyed with lighter dishes, such as asparagus, white meat barbecue and mixed salads. . For cheese, we will enjoy it for example with Comté, Chaource or Le Pont-l’Evêque.
