Comment

Located in Saint-Estèphe, in the heart of the Médoc, Château Lafon-Rochet is a Fourth Grand Cru Classé in 1855, whose history dates back to 1557. Recognizable by its golden yellow chartreuse, the estate extends over around fifty hectares spread over soils of deep gravel, clayey gravel and clay, which contribute to the complexity of its wines. The grape varieties are dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, supplemented by Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Since the acquisition of the estate by the Lorenzetti family in 2021, a new stage has been initiated, with particular attention paid to the expression of the terroir and the precision of the winemaking. The vineyard has been certified in organic farming since 2024, and an agroecology program, launched in 2019, has notably enabled the planting of more than 5,000 trees and shrubs in order to promote biodiversity.

Tasting

An expressive, crunchy nose of fresh red fruits and redcurrant. An attack with a lot of freshness, slightly woody, accompanying a structured palate with built tannins. The finish has a beautiful tension with a fine aromatic return, prolonged by grainy tannins and a nice hint of salinity.
