Comment

Far from fashion trends, hand-sewn, Alfred Gratien champagne has remained true to itself. For four generations, the Jaeger family established in Epernay, cellar managers from father to son, has ensured respect for the Alfred Gratien style. Know-how spanning over a century, quality supplies and undergrowth work contribute to making our wines a great champagne brand. Brut Classique is a blend dominated by Chardonnay (46%) which offers lightness and freshness, while Pinot Meunier (30%) brings its fruity presence. The Pinot Noir completes this blend and provides a beautiful structure. This vintage is vinified and aged in small 228 liter oak barrels. Malolactic fermentation is not carried out in order to preserve a lot of freshness and maximize aging time. The dosage is raw, around 9g/l.

Tasting

The Brut Classique Alfred Gratien has a light yellow color studded with fine, rapid bubbles. Its nose reveals complex notes of biscuits, pastries and white fruits, which then evolve into aromas of citrus fruits, white flowers and fresh butter. On the palate, the Brut Classique offers a frank attack, then unfolds chalky, mineral notes, with a beautiful lightness. The finish is clean, with good length. It is an ideal vintage for a dinner aperitif, particularly with savory or sweet petit fours.
