Comment

Grand Cru Classified in 1855 in the Haut-Médoc Appellation, located on the border with that of Saint-Julien, the Château de Camensac vineyard extends over 75 hectares in the commune of Saint-Laurent-du-Médoc. Its terroir is made up of magnificent hillsides of deep fine gravel placed on a clay-limestone substrate with so-called alios clays. Taking its name from the dialect "Chemin de l'eau", Camensac sits on a perfectly drained hillock. On the property is built an 18th century charterhouse, which was renovated like the rest of the estate by the Forner family, owners from 1964, who spared no effort to successfully awaken a sleeping beauty. Thanks to state-of-the-art production equipment and a redevelopment of the buildings, the estate fully deserves its classification rank of 1855 when it was taken over in 2005 by Céline Villars-Foubet and her uncle Jean Merlaut.

Tasting

The wine is bright and clear with a dark color. The aromas of black pepper and rose are recurring. The structure is fine and gives full body to the mid-palate. The wine is harmonious and powerful. The finish is very long and recalls the red fruit of the first nose with melted wood.
