Terroir of the plateau adjoining the premier crus Clos Fourtet and Beau Séjour-Bécot, Grand-Pontet was taken over by the Pourquet and Bécot families in 1980. A little lower and a little more clayey than its prestigious neighbors, the cru is capable of great things in great vintages. Mineral vigor always underlies the intensity of the fruit; it is expressed with distinction but it takes a few years for the wine to mature. It is a Saint-Emilion for connoisseurs, for lovers of the limestone plateau. With the help of director Pascal Lucin, the Pourquet-Bécot family signed with 2015 and 2016 the most beautiful double in the history of the vintage, the culmination of the increased attention paid to details, in the vineyard and in the cellar.

Tasting

A note of truffle appears, scents of ripe fruit and flowers, a delicate and tender woodiness, harmony is born from its freshness. 2016 is even better: the aging marks the wine, built to last, with its toasted notes. The great terroir of the plateau imposes an almost saline flavor.
