Comment

Originally, there was the Pontac family and the Château de Pez vineyard, in the north of the Saint-Estèphe appellation. Much later, in 1992, Jean-Claude Rouzaud, oenologist and president of Champagne Louis Roederer, acquired two Crus Bourgeois which were born from the fragmentation of Pez, Château Picard and Beauséjour, of which he combined part of the vineyards to give birth to this field. Since then, the famous Champagne house has largely modernized the cellar and vat room to produce quality wines which have attracted the attention of critics and the press in recent years. In the vineyard, you will find a dominant Merlot, the two Cabernets, Franc and Sauvignon, as well as Malbec, a grape variety from Cahors. The gestures are traditional, as much to perpetuate Médoc traditions as to be part of an environmentally friendly approach.

Tasting

A Cru Bourgeois which wonderfully embodies the qualities of Saint-Estèphe, with the structure and complexity of Cabernet Sauvignon and the roundness of Merlot, for a powerful, balanced wine, with lots of density, chew, sappy, with caressing, coated, juicy tannins with a tense finish.
