Comment

Château Lalande-Borie was created from scratch in 1970 by Jean-Eugène Borie on a plot of 30 hectares. Today, this estate, which has quickly acquired a fine reputation, is managed by his son Bruno Borie, also in charge of Château Ducru-Beaucaillou. The vineyard extends over 25 hectares located on the western plateau of the Saint-Julien appellation, where there are numerous second and third growths from the 1855 classification. The grape varieties give pride of place to Cabernet-Sauvignon which represents 65% of the surface, then 25% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. In the vines, yields are controlled and the actions are those of reasoned control. The harvest is manual, for moderately extractive vinification and aging in barrels where new wood does not dominate.

Tasting

With a deep purple color, this wine from the Saint-Julien appellation reveals beautiful fruit notes dominated by black cherries. On the palate, Château Lalande-Borie is very tasty, sappy and has a nice tannic presence. Fresh, it offers a beautiful silky and sensual structure. This suave wine develops a nice length on the fruit.
