Comment

According to legend, in 1317, Pope John XXII, whose health was fragile, tasted a Valréas wine during a stopover on the way to Avignon. He found himself very exhilarated and concluded that this wine was miraculous. Also, to dispose of it at his convenience, he bought the city of Valréas then the neighboring villages of Richerenches, Visan and Grillon. The Enclave was born! When the French departments were created, the inhabitants of the four cities chose through a referendum to remain attached to Vaucluse, thus perpetuating the Enclave which still exists today within the Drôme department. Added to the legendary particularity is the geographical originality: it is the northernmost vineyard of the southern Côtes du Rhône with an altitude above average. The soils are predominantly stony clay-limestone and benefit from a Provençal climate with cool nights, very sunny and purified by the Mistral. Limited on 3 sides by the first foothills of the southern Pre-Alps, this terroir opens to the west onto the Rhône valley.

Tasting

Ruby red color. Fragrances of ripe red fruits with notes of blackcurrant and a touch of spices. An elegant structure with soft tannins and a harmonious and expressive finish.
